Corgi Batmobile release With, or Without Batboat Hitch?
Good Day Citizens!
Please forgive me…as I may have missed the discussion on this, (If it occurred) but in my attempts to purchase one of these 1966 Corgi 1966 Batmobile re-issues…why do some have boat hitches as an integral part of the jet engine tailpipe? I don’t ever recall having seen these on any of the original issue Corgi Batmobile’s. Before I “Pull the Trigger” on buying one of these on any of the sites, what should I look for in terms of stock number or discription that might alert me to it having this hitch….as I DO NOT want one with it?

Look for original packaging for no tow hook. Window box includes tow hook
These two versions lack tow hook 267A1 has tow hook

I was today old when I learned that the British use “matt” instead of “matte” to mean a non-glossy finish.

I had the tow hook on my gift set 3 when I was a kid, it is weird to me when I look at my version without the tow hook. Bought the tow hook version too because my 7 year old self needs authenticity.

Ok, thank you….”To each, His own”. I didn’t (Don’t, as I still have my original) have the tow hook as purchased in Illinois as a kid.
Re: Corgi Batmobile release With, or Without Batboat Hitch?
Did I hear somewhere the forthcoming Batboat will have an adapter of sorts for those who don’t have the tow hook.
Re: Corgi Batmobile release With, or Without Batboat Hitch?
It will ship with the Batboat in the first release

Batboat progress from Corgi
You guys asked us to keep you in the loop and show you some pics of model development ~ so here's what is on our desk today. The grey model in the foreground is 3D printed from the Batboat CAD files (which were created after scanning an original). The two models behind it are tests we have run from the initial tooling set. We use all these models for evaluation purposes and to make changes before going ahead with the actual production run.
The Batboat won't be available until August but we need to get these things done well in advance!
PS> The tail of a Batboat you can see to the right is an original, which we use to compare to the test models.
Note the tin fin of the middle boat. Now we all know what that description means

Love it, Love it, Love it! Can't wait!!!
Re: Corgi Batmobile release With, or Without Batboat Hitch?
Happy New Year!
In the wake of 2024’s Batmobile release we’d be remiss in not heeding demands for the Batboat, which we’ve long hinted we’d love to do. We can finally announce that we have now secured the license and that the Batboat and trailer will be coming your way in 2025, tentatively scheduled for August. This will be of the first edition of the Batboat with the ’tin fin’ and will come complete with the super-rare coupler that allows the trailer to be hitched to the Club’s matt and gloss Batmobiles!
Before the Batboat, in July, we have the extremely rare white-liveried Dutch Police Car version of Corgi 492. Originals sell for silly money, so this’ll be an almost unique chance to add one to your collection without selling a kidney! We thought it was high time we started exploring some of Corgi’s lesser known models ~ especially as this is something many of you have been passionately requesting.
Also by popular demand, in September, we have the green version of the ever-popular Mini Magnifique, followed by the Bermuda Taxi (Corgi 430) in October. The latter is the very definition of a quirky Corgi Toy but a marvellous model that every Corgi fan should have in their collection.
Later in 2025 we’ve got the much-anticipated Corgi 270 ~ in both the gold and silver grille versions ~ followed by Corgi 248, the beige Chevy Impala with a white roof. We recently said we’d not do another Impala for a while but we’ve been deluged with requests for this one after releasing the Police Patrol car. This should then complete the Chevy Impala set ~ which is exactly what you’ve been asking for.
Then, at a date we haven’t quite fixed, will be our first Corgi Major ~ the legendary Ecurie Ecosse Racing Car Transporter. We’ve been working on the CAD files for this one for a while now. As soon as we receive a factory sample, and we’re happy with the results, we will confirm the release date (roughly planned for the latter half of 2025 or early part of 2026).
As 2025 becomes 2026 we’re hoping to issue another uber-rare Corgi, which we may need your help in sourcing ~ particularly for the box. More details in the coming weeks. The outcome of our search for a model and box may well decide on what we feature in the collection.
That’ll firmly take us into 2026, when things get even more exciting with a selection of Corgi Toys that have been long-requested ~ some of which we thought we’d never get the chance to do. But no spoilers yet as we need to confirm the licenses. It is worth noting that models take well over a year to get from the drawing board and into production ~ sometimes longer depending on the specifics of the license ~ so it seems odd already discussing 2026 but we thought you’d appreciate knowing what our plans are. In fact, our current tentative model release plan takes us into 2028!!!
Thank you for your loyal support in 2024 ~ and please keep those suggestions coming in. Your requests really do help to shape the Corgi Model Club collection!

Re: Corgi Batmobile release With, or Without Batboat Hitch?
We've had quite a few messages regarding the Batboat and how it hitches onto our Corgi Model Club Batmobile. The answer is that in the original Batboat packaging was a small coupler that fits over the exhaust of the Batmobile to provide a hook. The Batboat's trailer simply hitches onto the coupler... and away you go!
Seen here in the first pic are our pre-production couplers (3D printed in grey and first test run in orange) next to an original (and playworn) 1966 Batmobile. The final coupler will be black ~ which was the colour it was presented in back in 1967. Also shown in the pic is a white metal test run of the trailer. We'll take some more pics of the trailer in the coming days
The other pics here are from our production instructions to the factory, showing an original black coupler in use with our 1966 Batmobile. That original coupler was extremely difficult to source!
Hopefully this info will now set everyone's mind at rest that they'll be able to hitch the Batboat to the CMC Batmobile!!
