United Underworld 3D Relief Sculpture Plaque 9" x 7"
I have always loved this logo, so I wanted to see how it would look as an embossed sculpture. I had seen a sculpt "in progress" photo of this exact logo shown off around 5 years ago, but I guess that company decided to not produce it.
I have a great printer, but this type of print with all the little details and curves would have turned out even nicer on a resin type printer. Mine gives it a "woodcut" texture effect on some of the wavy areas, but I still think it turned out pretty cool. My printer will print in multiple colors, but I choose not to ask it to do that, because it requires literally hundreds of color changes and creates filament waste, so I just hand painted one. The other one was printed in solid black and then dry brushed with silver and took much less time. lol
Life has kept me very busy lately, but I do have several new projects to share soon. I always have new ones in various stages of work, and I find it more fun to just jump around on them. Making and sharing these here helps to keep me sane.
Biffpow I haven't used those painting skills nearly enough lately. I know several of you already know that I'm an oil painter too, but for those that don't you can see my other art on Instagram.

WOW! I don’t have instagram but was able to see the photos on your IG homepage. I had no idea, Randy, but it definitely makes sense that your artistic talents run deep. Really enjoy your art.

Oils are beautiful, Randy. Man I miss painting.
Do you have any upcoming showings of your work?
Thank you, Andy. My painting is an interesting topic. I lived & breathed painting and actually was becoming successful at it. I had work in three galleries, one man shows, I was a Vice President of a large art group, Southwest art magazine did an article on me and named me to their "Artist to Watch", and I was given Master Signature status and Signature status in some groups. Then one day about three years ago I told my wife it was starting to feel like another job to me, and I already had an 8-5 job that I'm doing okay at and supporting my family with for almost 40 years now. I told my wife that I would rather "make things" and us my time to make myself happy and she 100% supported me. I have not touched a paint brush to a canvas in over 2 1/2 years now. I do miss it, and I plan on going back to it one day, but I would probably reinvent my art when I do. I've lost several people in my life that never got a chance to retire or simply enjoy life and play. I'm blessed to have a great family, solid day job and to be able to pursue whatever makes me happy. This pursuit is also why I don't try to sell many of my things I design & make. Money is nice but I put value into much more.
Sorry for the long-winded statement & I hope it doesn't come off weird. I enjoy this group of people here and I connect with you all in many ways. I hope to be a 90-year-old man one day still collecting toys & surrounding myself with happy things like many of you here.

Received mine today …. Amazing craftsmanship Randy and a little bonus to boot … thank so much
Thanks Mike! I brush painted straight over that with basic acyrlic paints with no primer.
Let me know if I can help in any way. I appreciate the comments.

Not long winded to me at all.
I have a very similar story-- there was a time where I smelled of oil paint everyday-- I did a huge series of Jazz Paintings which showed in a NYC Gallery and they sold out-- one ended up in the Collection of the National Gallery and the other was bought by David Lauren who gave it to his father in law George HW Bush and its on display in Kenniebunk. The gallery was on me for more-- and pretty soon the pressure of selling them for what I considered obscene amounts of money and churning things out took all of the fun out of it so I put down my brushes and put away my oils. I've since been playing with Gouache but focusing on fun comic related stuff.
If I've no grandchildren when I retire I'm going to try and get back into "real" painting-- but if I do it's me in an army man helmet playing with little plastic soldiers on my back hill with them.
Do you happen to go to San Diego Comic Con? Quite a few boardies do and its a good place to meet.
Also was the kid playing with my army men. Oh, the days of imagination and no technology beyond the “Four T’s”:
1. TV
2. Turntable
3. Transistor radio
4. Telephone (hardwired)
Randy, excellent work as previously stated. I kind of wish that they had used a 3-D relief in the movie, now, instead of just the painted version. I’d be tempted to incorporate it into the diorama.
Any board member know why they decided not to reuse the concept of a villain headquarters again in the series? It didn’t have to involve multiple villains working together. It could’ve just been a base of operations for the various villains to use - like one week the Joker used it, the next week Catwoman. I guess that would’ve been too boring? But each villain could have dressed it up that week with their own accoutrements.

Love how this turned out. Cast in metal of some sort, it would make a phenomenally obnoxious belt buckle, in all the best ways!
