A new Batboot option
Hi All,
My last conversation with Isabel Duran was a wake up call.
She mentioned that she was down to two shoemakers and the turnaround time was doubling.
Communications with the company have become even more concerning.
So, Lynne and I have been working with another shoe maker and we just got the first boots back.
I have to say, I'm pretty happy with the first pair out of the gate.
I was able to art direct them a bit more and have a few more tweaks happening to them as we move forward.
Accuracy was a primary goal so I shared my tracings of the top of the batboot and of the Robin boot fins.
The toe is more the correct 60's shape and the zipper is covered on the batboot like Hardeman boots.
Other key differences are in the color of the batboot. Compared to my painted boots in the image, even with a point blank flash, they read well and don't go royal blue.
The Robin boot has the correct V shape to the opening and the color works with the entire costume.
We will be selling them with the Williams Studio 2 brand through our shop in the near future...

Fantastic News Chuck. I'll be keeping an eye out, I still need a pair of Robin boots to complete my costume. I know with your eye for detail they will be perfect. I wish you and Lynne did the Batman and Robin gloves as well, I know Gasper is the go to, but I'd love getting them directly from you. Maybe even Robins Tights?

Sad to hear things aren't going well at Duran's, but your new option is looking great!

It really is with a heavy heart that we had to go down this road.Ben Bentley wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 8:25 pm Sad to hear things aren't going well at Duran's, but your new option is looking great!
I have the greatest respect for Isabel and admire how hard she has worked to keep her artisans employed.
It was only after a job came up and we got zero communication with them that we had to move forward on our own.

We work with Gaspar all the time. Dorothy Gaspar is fantastic!
The difference with our gloves is that we supply the fabric so it matches our suits. The Robin gloves are at the mercy of the available leather skins at the time of the order.
I love that her company has the original patterns and she worked for the lady that made the screen used gloves.
We do make Robin tights with the seam up the back in modern fabric. You can still find older Capezio men's tights in a suntan color on ebay from time to time.

I wish I never got rid of my Batboots. I happened to be in LA when an appointment fell through, and I looked up Duran shoes and they custom fit me. Best pair of shoes of any type I ever owned. I’ll be keeping an eye out on your site for a pair
Some days you just can't get rid of a ... SHARK!
Re: A new Batboot option
It'd be wild if they made them in Chelsea boot style-- I wear those all the time-- and it would be cool to have Batman boots as my street clothes. I'm not sure how comfortable the full size boots would be under jeans.
