Wow, Quite the asking price for something in such poor condition. Stranger still two people offering the exact same item at different prices. Gotta wonder which one is legit.
Buyer Beware would apply here I would guess.

Interesting. Had not seen the other set. It seems to be like somebody or multiple people stumbled upon a small stash or, as you allude, is it something more nefarious?

My only question is who would eat hornets? Especially with a fork and spoon!

Well if you look closely at the photos in both auctions they appear to have the same markings. But upon closer examination of the photos, (the photos on the one auction are small and poor quality) I can not find any water damage as on the other and if you look at the (4) in both one has a small downward curve and the (5) in one is made up of two parts while the other is looks to be one fluid movement. So you could be right, a small cash of poor quality Hornet silverware sets. Both sellers are in California, but I'm not familiar with the cities and their locations.

Two different examples but has to be from the same source as found with the same (but different) inked/sharpie? pricings and X'ed out 79 cents.

From the looks of it, I would guess they were found at a flea market or yard sale by two different people. I wonder how many more of those were found?
I remember the days of hitting yard sales and flea markets with my mom and dad and finding some great items - vintage comic books and toys. These sets look like something I might’ve found back in the 1970s.
