One way is that Corgi could have hired a designer like me who has no idea what color the batboat is despite having seen the movie 100+ times

My guess is that black plastic was more economical to produce.Lou Szabo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 1:47 pm Someone did ask why the Batboat and Batcopter were Black, instead of their respective colors. I'm guessing, but Corgi figured if the Batmobile is Black, then the other Bat vehicles will be black - Batcycle, Batcopter.....
Anyone know differently? Ironic how Aurora got the Batboat colors correct. Have also seen some correctly painted Batboats (customized).

What year was the Corgi Batboat first released? I ask because Filmation's 1968 Batman cartoon also had a Batboat based on the movie version, only it was colored black (with a red underside), as seen in the #4 image below:

Even with all this discussion I had to do a google search to see what color(s) the batboats are. I don't think it made a big enough impression on me as a kid that I noticed. Unlike when I first saw the Batmobile and was expecting bright fire red trimming and discovered it was neon orange.
So the actual Batboat from the movie (and the stock footage the show used) is blue.
Corgi's Batboat was black. I would have bet $100 it was blue too, glad I don't bet.

Now that the Corgi BatBoat is available for pre-order, wonder how long before Corgi reissues the Batmobile and BatBoat (and trailer) gift set? See link for photo:

I want that gift set again, had it when I was a kid.
Re: Corgi 1966 Batboat Being Re-released!
No one sold Corgi vehicles where we lived when I was a kid. Never even saw one until I was an adult.

That's a shame, Biff. Although I only remember them for sale at a great (but little) hobby shop around the corner from where my Mom worked. We'd pop in every so often (usually to buy another Batmobile).

Never had the Batboat as a kid, but I think Dad picked up the Batmobile at Sears. I think he got the 007 DB5 at Sears too!
Slightly off topic but my 3 year old grandson loves these Corgis, just the right size for his hands. His favorite so far is the Studebaker Golden Hawk. He’s getting a Gold DB5 at the end of July. He’s seen too many Batmobiles, so it’s not as special.
