WS2 Folding Bat Boomerang is in the shop!

Post by Chuck Williams »

Folding batarang is in the shop!!

It's wild how things come together sometimes.

I had put together all the available batarangs with the thought of making one because I didn't feel that they had been "nailed" in the overall look.

The day before my friend Stewart Berkowitz passed, he called and sent images and measurements of his newly acquired screen used folding batarang.
It was like he read my mind! (a short story to be sure!)

It's finally in the shop with the solid version as well.

"Honey, I need to get the piggy bank and a hammer!"
"What!? Did WS2 just release something new again?"

LOL! Thanks guys!
Ben, the hinge is probably changing. While the tight tolerances are nice, it wants to scrape the paint off. A new one is on the way for testing.
Andy, you made my day! I'm not a kid, so doing one handed phone stuff is a pill!

Top notch artistry Chuck!
A perfect replica that is probably nicer than the original prop was in 66.

Thanks Randy!

To be fair, I took probably 10 times the amount of time to sculpt it and modern casting resin makes all the difference.

Any chance of making one in aluminum like the stage prop?

I did not know the screen used prop had a lock for the hinge!

Is this the Adam West larger batarang or the smaller Robin batarang?

Thanks.

The folding Batarang was fiberglass but you are right, they did also cast both the Batman and Robin Batarangs in aluminum.
No plans at the moment for metal casting. It would be quite expensive to do.

This is the larger Batman Batarang.

Back in the 80's I picked up a casting of the Robin batarang molded from the original.
It helped me get a more "batty" vibe in the sculpture.

Yep! A simple solution that keeps it locked open.

That looks like Lynne peeking out from behind the Batarang on your corkboard. I've always said a man who has a picture of his wife in his workspace is a man you can trust!
