Autograph Collection

Post by rsaffle »

I'm curious who has the best Batman autograph collection in this forum?

I have seven of the main actors...West, Ward, Craig, Gorshin, Ceaser, Meredith, Newmar & Van Williams.

Only West was signed in person. I did meet most of them, but I couldn't afford their autographs then.

Who can beat this? I'm sure a bunch of you can.

If you could have one more, whose would it be? I would choose Bruce Lee's or Alan Napier if it had to be regular cast member.

I have the ones you have, Randy, plus Lee Meriwether and some guest actors/actresses, like June Wilkinson, Marilyn Hanold, etc. I’m not exactly sure how many of those I have, but I’ve been collecting autographs for more than 30 years. I am a James Bond fan, and, decades ago, I snagged a very early Sean Connery autographed photo with the original envelope that advertised “Goldfinger.”

Van Williams was one of the first autographed photos I bought. Found it in a little antique store maybe 35 years ago in Micanopy, Florida. That’s the same town where they filmed “Doc Hollywood,” with Michael J Fox.

I've got a few; Julie Newmar (signed photo from an estate sale), Lee Meriwether (twice, signed photo and autograph in the Hal Lifson book 1966!), and what I thought was an Adam and Burt-signed photo but it turned out the signatures were part of the print signed as "Special for the Torrance YMCA" (anyone else have a copy?).

Me being me, of course, I thought "How about a Michael Rennie autograph?" So I hit eBay this afternoon and found a signed playbill for a show Mr. Rennie starred in and directed back in 1963, entitled, of all things...

Looks like most of the cast signed it except for that Faye whatshername - wonder what happened to her?
Wish I could buy it but I don't have a hundred bucks to my name right now. :|

this is the wall in my office. I display my personalized photos here. I have either met or worked with these celebrities at one point or corresponded with them (only one being George Reeves, I bought that one and it hangs as a wish fulfillment). My friend Randy and I did celebrity shows with, Yvonne, Burt, Van Williams and Johnny Duncan ( the 1949 Robin) We were to do a show with Julie but her son was sick and she had to cancel. Also one with Frank but it fell through, it was fun when he would call, he would do his Riddler laugh then call us by name, would have been a fun show. Yvonne had an aunt that lived here and we would go to lunch with her and her aunt,we became good friends.Johnny was a good friend and would call from time to time to shoot the breeze, he had great stories about his days in Hollywood. He was very good friends with Audie Murphy. Van came over to the house and we would have drinks and watch the Green Hornet together. I have 5 episodes of the Green Hornet on 16 mm. Randy and I would fix us all a drink and go to the basement and watch them and listen to Van's stories. I'm a licensed diver and Van had invited me to come out and visit him, he wanted to dive the lake behind him. Unfortunately between schedules and his heart attach that never happened.
i have other autographs in storage, as i said these are personalized ones. I have; Lee Weriwether, Cesar Romero, Vincent Price(Egghead), Malachi Throne (False Face), Victoria Vetri (King Tut's Moll and a dear Friend), and somewhere in storage a 1949 Batman Lobby card with both Johnny Duncan's and Robert Lowery's Signature. Oh almost forgot Jill St John as Molly. I may have forgotten about a few others they are in storage and I have not seen them in a while.
Others I have : Superman; Bob Holiday, Dean Cain, Brandon Routh
The Falsh; John Wesley Shipp
007; Sean Connery
I Spy; Robert Culp & Bill Cosby
The Avengers; Patrick Mcnee
Magnum PI; Tom Selleck
The Untouchables Tv Show; All of Them
Greatest American Hero; William Katt
Daredevil; Ben Affleck
Rocketeer; Billy Campbell
Have Gun Will travel ; Richard Boone
Walt Disney's ZORRO; Guy Williams
Walt Disney
Stan Lee
The Man from UNCLE: Robert Vaughn & David Mc Callum
and possibly others i have forgotten at the moment.

I'd like to caution against displaying autographed photos only in frames. Damage can be caused by the photo touching the glass and archival materials not being used. I've had it happen. They can be stored in Itoya folders (or similar archival brand) or framed with archival mats and backing so the photo doesn't come in contact with a harsh environment. The attached link goes into more detail...

I have been actively collecting autographs from the show's cast and crew for the last 20 years. That means not only the credited people but ANYONE who has had ANYTHING to do with the show. This has led me to to some amazing letters/phone calls/in-person meetings with so many great people - directors, stuntmen, production, writers, and background players/extras. I have the signatures of a few hundred different people, some of them extremely scarce - I mean how many background players were asked for autographs? I've tried to meet as many as I can in person, and in fact there are at least 4 people who are scheduled to attend the Hollywood Show in January that I have never met before and I am going to try to get out there.

I've got an autograph from Adam from the pilot episode- he's on the phone in his costume but he doesn't have the trunks on because they were uncomfortable and they were shooting from the waist up-- so he's in a completely gray outfit much like they redesigned the Bat suit in the comics in the early 00s.
I also have a couple of letters Adam wrote to me-- those are priceless.
I think I have some other cast member autographs around but I'm not 100% sure which portfolio I've stored them in.
You folks all have great collections!
