I'm not a big fan of either the '68 or the '77 cartoon-- I think they used the same cels didn't they? BUT I am a fan of Carmine Infantino and they used his version as the style guide-- so it's like getting a set of 60s Comic Book figures. I'll grab a Batman if I see one around at a good price.

Well, I guess it would go well with the Deathman figure (which I also didn’t collect).AndyFish wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 8:26 am I'm not a big fan of either the '68 or the '77 cartoon-- I think they used the same cels didn't they? ATTN: LEAK alert! Here is the first look at the McFarlane 66 WAVE 9!
By the looks of it, they are branching the toyline out further now by adding the 1977 FILMNATION cartoon series "The New Adventures Of Batman" to the mix.
"The New Adventures Of Batman" first aired on February 12th, 1977. The cartoon series only had 1 season that consisted of 16 episodes. Adam West and Burt Ward reprised their roles and voiced the Batman and Robin character's in this animated series (which, in my opinion still gives it that '66 feel to it).
Here is the written list from the first picture posted below, along with some animated stills from the cartoon to give you an idea of what you may expect to see:
- DC RETRO 6IN WV9 - BATMAN 66 - BATGIRL (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT).
- DC RETRO 6IN WV9 - BATMAN 66 - BATMAN (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT). (Adam West voiced)
- DC RETRO 6IN WV9 - BATMAN 66 - ROBIN (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT). (Burt Ward voiced)
-DC RETRO 6IN WV9 - BATMAN 66 - THE JOKER (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT).
- DC RETRO 6N WV9 - BATMAN 66 - THE RIDDLER (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT).
- DC RETRO 6IN WV9 - BATMAN 66 - COMMISSIONER GORDON (NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN VARIANT).
oof, that is a bummer. With the exception of Commissioner Gordon, these are all repaints. Maybe new boots and a belt for Batgirl, and a new head for Batman, but probably not much else. possibly the vehicle or playset will make up for it?
I will stay cautiously optimistic, here's to hoping.
this is set to drop in January?

Andy, it’s like an old girlfriend that you love the memory of, but probably wouldn’t like now. I think the only animated Batman series I can watch for a few episodes is the 93 series. But I do enjoy the art and voices with this Filmation series. Cackling villains drive me nuts, and it’s a short drive, LOL.AndyFish wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 8:26 am I'm not a big fan of either the '68 or the '77 cartoon-- I think they used the same cels didn't they? By the way, a fellow on FB used the Batcave as a base and enlarged it and painted it. Looks pretty sharp now.

I like the pink Riddler-- was he actually in any episodes? They also used the reverse R on Robin's logo, something that was common in the cels.

Re: McFarlane Toys doing Batman 66 figures?
Nope. He was in the opening only. He could not be used at the time as Hanna Barbara had his animation rights while Filmation had the rights to Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman. This is why those 3 never appeared on Challenge of the Super Friends as originally intended.
Here are some Alex Toth images of how Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman could have looked had they appeared on Challenge of the Super Friends.
Re: McFarlane Toys doing Batman 66 figures?
Interesting sketches/concept art. Thanks for sharing that.
Is that the Penguin I see on the bottom right of the villains’ lair? Perhaps did not get the memo that Penguin was also off-limits?
It was also interesting to see Dr. Silvana played by Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass, on Andy Griffith). He could’ve probably played Mr. Mxyzptlk, too, with his impishness.
