It might have been interesting to see and actor like Danny Kaye play the Bat-villain the Cavalier. His inclusion might have appealed to the potential European audience to whom villains like the Archer and Minstrel were intended to appeal. In fact, Cavalier might have precluded use of Archer, who was a Superman villain anyway.

Not to mention that Danny was also funnier than the Archer. If he had played whatever character he'd been given with the same kind of finesse as he did in The Court Jester, it would have been a scream to watch him.

The stumbling block to Kaye though was that the final season of his variety show on CBS overlapped with Season 2, and by Season 3 the producers had abandoned all pretense of using established DC villains.

Clayface was featured on the short lived Birds of Prey TV show.

The one I know is the Carpet king. I have read that he used to sell Persian rugs and that how he met the producer as well. Sorry but I am not aware of his original name.

My #1 pick would be The Catman, who appeared in three issues of Detective Comics between January 1963 and March 1964. The Catman was really Thomas Blake, a bored big game hunter who toyed with the idea of becoming a crimefighter to relieve his boredom but turned to crime instead because he realiized that tangling with Batman would be more exciting. He wore a costume similar to Batman's and he employed various cat devices in his utility belt.

I think Catman would have been a fantastic antagonist for Batman on the show, especially if the origin story had been tweaked so that Thomas Blake was a bored millionaire college chum of Bruce Wayne. This would have been the perfect role for Van Williams (pre-Green Hornet) or Ron Ely.

To the extent the showrunners were even aware of this character, I can understand why they didn't use Catman. They already had one cat-themed villain and two might have been seen as overkill. Also, my revised origin story is very close to what was used for Lee Meriwether/Catwoman/Kitka in the 1966 movie so that also would have been overkill (if employed.)

My second pick would be "The Terrible Trio" -- three inventors who commit crimes as The Fox, The Shark and The Vulture who opposed Batman in 1958 and 1963. The Terrible Trio wore business suits but each sported a fox, shark or vulture mask to conceal their real identities. These three became the basis for a fantastic episode of Batman: The Animated Series when the characters were reconceived as three young, bored millionaires who turn to crime for kicks.

The Terrible Trio would have added novelty to the series, not least because they would have provided some relief from the lethal formula of villain/moll/henchmen that overtook the series and contributed to its downfall. Varying the formula might have worked wonders in terms of extending the longevity of the series.

My final pick would be The Crime Doctor, a 1940s-era villain who reappeared in the comics in the late-70s. The Crime Doctor was a prominent and respected physician (Dr. Matthew Thorne) who also led a secret life as The Crime Doctor, a villain who "diagnosed" flaws in criminals' schemes and gave them a "prescription" for fixing them. The twist was that The Crime Doctor refused to kill because it conflicted with the oath he took as Dr. Matthew Thorne!

The Crime Doctor would have been a perfect Season 1 villain in the manner of other peculiar villains like False-Face and The Bookworm. What really would have made it work was if Matthew Thorne was Bruce Wayne's doctor and put 2-and-2 together that Bruce was Batman but couldn't benefit from/disclose the knowledge as the Crime Doctor because doing so would violate Matthew Thorne's refusal to breach Bruce Wayne's patient confidentiality! It would have been the perfect twist ending in Season 1!!!

I think that The Catwoman and The Catman would have made an excellent team up on "Batman."
