One of my favorite covers, Batman #222, from 1970. Batman and Robin with The Beatles.

I wonder when DC quit using celebrity likenesses for fear of lawsuits. As you may recall, they got permission for all the portraits on Superman vs Muhammed Ali. I have a Charlton Romance comic that I strictly bought for the Elvis cover.
I think this Frank Robbins story was one of the best mystery/whodunits I've ever read in a comic, but that probably made it hard to find an arresting cover image that fit the story. I like the Mike Kaluta cover, though.

The Kaluta cover was a gem in the era of the very adult detective Bat-comics; his work was realistic, but has a flair all his own. I love that period of Batman.
Below, one of Aparo's finest Bat-covers--Brave and the Bold #119 from June 1975. The moon motif was so successful, it was used again for the cover of Manbat #1 (inset)) from December 1975 / January 1976), a cover posted a couple of pages back.

The Batman/Man-Bat cover was used as the back cover on the Jim Aparo hardback. It is an awesome cover. You can't go wrong with early 70s Aparo.

You're right--you cannot go wrong with early 70s Aparo; the cover above was just another great example of the energy and interest he brought to Bat covers.
