After the big San Diego press release, I hope the Amazon listing updates and reflects additional info and includes a different picture for the packaging. With so many elements from the show to use, the packaging should blow the eyes away - the stock photo "copy & paste" look on the current listing doesn't do this show justice. Let's see the batmobile, atomic pile, opening animation images.
If this is anything on par with the Star Trek TOS release, they'll have surpassed my greatest expectations!

I went over to take a look, and I'm stunned at how inane some of the comments are. How any of those remarks can be considered "reviews" is beyond me. THIS is a message board, THIS is the place for opinions and discussion about Batman coming out on DVD. Why in the world do people write that type of stuff as a review at the preorder page on Amazon? (I've thought for years now that Amazon shouldn't allow any reviews to be entered until maybe a week before the item is physically available, but maybe that's just me.)BATWINGED HORNET wrote: I understand if some cannot afford the DVD, but some of the Amazon comments are petty.
Just think about how overloaded the reviews and star-ratings will be after the presentation next week.

season sets aside, the Time Life Release of the complete series was $250 of SMDM. In 6 months on ebay I found a used copy in like new conidtion for $99 bucks..epaddon wrote:That isn't a perfect example. First off, they didn't release all five seasons separately a few months later it was spread out over a period of a couple YEARS. The same thing with "Barney Miller" which had its full run released by Shout but in more than two years since has only released a couple additional seasons and not all of them separately. And then there's "It Takes A Thief" which had a full series release but then only its first season later made available separately.chelray1 wrote:Six Million Dollar Man is a perfect example of this. 250 bucks on release date for the complete series or 50 bucks per season, now 14.99 or lower per season.
You're entitled to your own standards of what you'll spend but you're not entitled to your own facts regarding how the market works or what's happened in the past with other titles. The past model shows that usually you have to wait more than a couple years to then see the whole thing made available individually (and often minus the bonus content).

I know what you mean. The sets are not coming out for almost four months and everyone is acting like they have to have all the information NOW. It is all coming soon enough. I have been wanting this set on home video for a long time so that no matter what the configuration is I will buy it, I'm a big fan of the show.batbelfry wrote:I went over to take a look, and I'm stunned at how inane some of the comments are. With Amazon.com, when it comes to books they don't let anyone comment on the novel until the release date. They should do the same with home video.

In my honest opinion, this will be what we ALL want. If there weren't so many rights issues, it would've happened sooner. I'll be happy once the set's in hand. See what happens on ThursdAy, kids...

I just checked after seeing your post,$179.74! I was waiting for details and was on the fence about DVD or Blu Ray. I think I'll pay the extra $9 or so and get the Blu Ray at that price. I guess I should have preordered last week.

Yeah I would put in your pre order now to get that lower price before it goes up on the Blu-Ray. I just did my pre order yesterday and I got the lower price on both!!

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Just preordered the Blu Ray set. Lock that price in before it jumps too! Really surprised the DVD set jumped in price like that.

You found *a* copy, which only underscores the fact that it's not liable to be a mass quantity available at a rock bottom price that all can partake in. Sometimes you get lucky, often times you don't and then there's the intrinsic opportunity cost factor of do I really want to deny myself of six months of a chance to watch this show because *maybe* I'll get a rock bottom rate down the line? No thank you.chelray1 wrote:[season sets aside, the Time Life Release of the complete series was $250 of SMDM. In 6 months on ebay I found a used copy in like new conidtion for $99 bucks..

I was just wondering, was the date of the release an implied nod to veterans? Remember kids, freedom ISN'T free. If ya love freedom, thank a vet...

"what? there's only a few extras"
"most of this stuff we've seen before"
"they expect fans to pay that much for such a thin release?"
"They will find out many loyal Bat-fans will NOT--and I repeat NOT be ripped off by this...but until they drop the price, I'll hold on to my bootlegs!"
No one is entitled to own a product. If any part of the release is not to their taste, then they need to walk away from it. Somehow, such fans managed to spend the past 48 years not having this on any form of home entertainment (8 or 16mm, laserdisc, video tape, DVD, etc.), and their lives were not troubled.
They will continue to live as normal if they never buy the DVDs.

Despite wording to the contrary, I think that is the final box art. I certainly could be wrong, but if it's not expect something very similar and be happy they didn't use the generic Garcia Lopez licensing art.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
When the pre-orders first went up last week, I decided to pre-order the DVD set. I have a Blu-ray player, but when I compared the prices of the two sets, I felt a little guilty about spending so much and opted for the less expensive set. Now, after reading the last few messages in this thread about the price likely going up within the next few days, I pre-ordered the Blu-ray. Dang peer-pressure! lol
I'll have to pick up a few extra hours at work, but this is going to be totally worth every penny.
(And for the record, my comment about the price isn't a complaint at all. I was just trying to be a responsible adult, lol.)
