Cool bat moment at school

Post by jokers moll »

Hi guys!
Had to share something really cool that
happened today. I was subbing in a second
grade class, and one of the boys was all
decked out in bat gear. I asked him if he was
famiar with the 66 show. He said he was
because he'd seen the movie. When I told
him I'd met the guy who played Batman he was
quite impressed and asked if I met Robin too.
When I told him I knew someone who made
Batmobiles, he was super excited and said he
was saving up to buy one. So cute! Later the kids
got to share some stories and drawings the had done.
He read his story about how Robin had gotten
attacked and frozen by Mr. Freeze and Batman
saved him, complete with super cool illustrations!
It was adorable to see someone so little be such a
die hard fan of our beloved Caped Crusader!

That's just awesome. It just shows how powerful a straightforward hero can be to a kid. Not an antihero. Not a dark hero. But an honest to goodness Good Guy.

I honestly believe the world would be just a little bit better place if our youth were given the proper opportunity to grow up with Batman 66.

Reminds me of a 5th grader I met at my job ( in education).

He told us how he wanted to be Batman.
I asked him which Batman movie was his favorite (expecting him to say Dark Knight).
He said, "Actually, I like the Tim Burton movies best."

Already I knew this kid was unusual for a 10 year old.
So I asked, "Have you ever seen the OLD Batman?"

He replies, "You mean Adam West?"

My jaw hit the floor.

Before he left, I drew him a really nice sketch of Batman. Cool kid.

The picture in my Avatar was outside a Hospital in Iowa, I wore my costume to the childrens ward
and handed out treats to those that could have them, i gave little Bounsing suction cup Batmans to the rest. but we had to walk through the area where they have the older patients stay and while walking through one of the OLD guys said to a Lady sitting in a chair by him,
"Look Rose he put his Underware on the outside" and chuckled, I heard he say to him, " At least he remembers to put them on"! TO funny, My Daughter had a great time as my "Cat Girl helper" who handed out the toys..
I may not agree with what you say at times, But I will fight for your right to say it!

I loved your post. In fact, I'm not sure I would have ever cared about Batman had it not been for the 66 series. The later movies wouldn't have even fazed me - sure they would have been okay action flicks to see once, but I wouldn't have cared about the existence of the character. I especially agree with your last sentence about the world being a better place. I see people who have similar characteristics to "66" and I like being around them, even though I know I have way too many faults and foibles to even think of emulating that sort, I'm glad to see there are those who do, anyway.
