Sonny and Cher

Post by twint9 »

I seem to remember once seeing someone post a small newspaper or magazine article mentioning that Sonny & Cher would be appearing in a Batman episode. If anyone has this would you be able to post it?

Thanks so much!

Here is what I have saved.

I speculated that perhaps that the real "The Twins" were played as a cameo by Sonny and Cher, the footage was shot, and for whatever reason the footage wasn't used? The episode continues with Venus and a henchman taking on their disguise to try and trap the Caped Crusaders.
The letter is dated October 26, 1966. "The Zodiac Crimes" airdate was January 11, 1967. Other Dozier letters showing shooting scheules of other episodes also show a 3 month gap between shooting dates to airdate.

I'm amazed that this made it to TV listings when it turned out to be wrong. Perhaps S&S decided they didn't want to the clip to be used? So they came up with Andy Devine as Santa at the last minute?

Also, I wonder which episode Bing was supposed to have been in.

We concluded in the end that Sonny and Cher filmed a (window?) cameo as themselves, rather than appeared narratively within a storyline such as "The Twins" in the Zodiac Crimes.

Their cameo was shot during "The Puzzles Are Coming" and they were compensated $100 just like Werner Kempler was for his window cameo that very same shooting day. It was not uncommon to shoot multiple window cameos during a morning/afternoon, especially by the time S2 was full-steam ahead.

Great job finding the document and contemporaneous 'clips,' A. Pennyworth, and thanks for the context, Ben. Minor correction, it is Werner Klemperer.

I think I said this a while back--Sonny and Cher appeared around that time in a Man From UNCLE episode.

It was the first acting appearance for each.
