GH Coat Question

GH Coat Question
I've been trying to discover if Van Williams wore his green topcoat OVER another coat. In some pictures it almost looks like he was wearing either a white vest or a white scarf. Have any of you sussed this out? Thanks.

It's a white scarf. No extra coat. Trust me. 
I had a Green Hornet suit of my own years ago and it's too tailored fit to get another coat underneath.
In 'The Frog is a Deadly Weapon" he changes out of his outfit in the back of the Black Beauty. You can see the white scarf.
