Question about Batpole tunnel
I've been working on a Lego 1966 Batcave with lights and sound for the last 3 years.I'm at the part of the build where the Batpoles are in the Batcave and I've got a question.I noticed where Bruce and Dick enter the Batcave via the Batpoles it looks like it's cement but I've seen pictures that the tunnel that leads to the Batcave that it's wood.Is that tunnel all cement walls(or blocks)or is it part cement and part wood?I noticed in episodes where they show the costume changer and the Batpole lifts that they look like wood planks. If anybody has any information on this I would greatly appreciate the knowledge from the forum members.
Re: Question about Batpole tunnel
I think you mean how it was built on the show, not what it would look like if you built a 1:1 scale in your Stately Dredd Manor.

This may be a) painted to look like blocks, or b) a wall paper to look like blocks, or c) a thin veneer block mounted to a backing board like plywood or drywall (many kitchens had a brick face, but the blocks were only 1/2" thick"

That looks like a typical electrical box from Schneider electric or similar.

The landing pad changed between seasons - at first a giant pillow like landing pad, but then more of a tire like system to raise them up to the study as above.

S2E58 Flop Goes The Joker, of course Alfred was painting the Bat-poles, removed the signage, wall is different, and a shot down the tunnel.

Re: Question about Batpole tunnel
I've always seen the back wall of the Bat-Pole alcove (for lack of a better term!) IN THE CAVE and as they slide down the pole as cast concrete which used wooden forms.
The block work in the library ends at the floor which becomes the cast concrete.
When the Joker was going down the pole, I've always thought the darker color was just to suggest the light levels. The lighter bottom being the cave which he was not supposed to see.
My 2 cents...

Re: Question about Batpole tunnel
The block work wall behind the bookshelf was only present in the Pilot version of the Wayne Manor set that was constructed over at Fox. When the show went to series and the Batcave and Wayne Manor interiors were dissembled and moved over to Desilu Culver for the duration of the show's production. The pilot version of the Batpole reveal shot is used a couple of times as a stock shot in early S1.

In the "Culver" version of the set, you'll notice that the wall is smoother with vertical running lines in what looks like concrete, more akin to the wall seen at the bottom of the shaft in the Batcave. The lettering/signage denoting "Access to the Batcave.." becomes signifcantly larger than it was in the Pilot version of the set. There's a ton of other differences between the Pilot study-set and the series version, but i'll resist the urge to detail all of those changes and keep this thread somewhat on topic, haha.
