Nagging Joker Question
I have always been trying, for what seems like forever, to figure out exactly what Cesar said in his first episode - The Joker Is Wild. Up on the catwalk at the TV studio Batman pulls out the Batcuffs and tells Joker he'll be singing a different tune. Joker than responds with a phrase I could never figure out. "Songs of Apartis"? "Psalms of Apartis"? Just what is he saying? For reference it's at the 4:52 time stamp in the linked video.
"Hmmm... I don't like the twist this joke is taking. Let us away! Let us away!"
Re: Nagging Joker Question
Perhaps it’s something like the Spanish “apártese / aparte” or the Italian word “aparte” meaning “to step aside” or “stand back”?

“Songs are for parties my caped copper”
Via closed caption. Makes sense, sort of

OK, that does make sense. It doesn’t sound like that, but that makes a whole lot of sense.
Re: Nagging Joker Question
It makes more sense when you realize Joker has paused in the middle of a sentence, and the reference to parties is setup for a punchline:
"Songs are for parties, my caped copper—and so is confetti!"
It's prelude to him tossing the tricky streamers stashed in his utility belt.

Re: Nagging Joker Question
Well gang, I guess we have it figured out. It seems to be "Songs are for parties, my caped copper." as Jimmy L 66 posited. It fits perfectly as a retort to Batman's "You'll be singing a different tune, my crooked clown." Zoinks! Mystery solved and we didn't even have Scoob or the Mystery Machine with us. For years and years I was thinking Joker was referring to some famous philosopher's quote or something. Thanks for all your help on this one.

Funny how Joker mentions confetti but throws streamers instead.
"Holy nostalgia, Batman!"

Biffpow, that one came to mind afterwards as did "My glasses!" So many classic lines.

Yes, Therin, I had caught that too, but I can let it slide simply to the constricting actions and multi-colors of the streamers as well as the sound effect of the harp. It makes Joker and his abilities seem magical and 'otherworldly'. Basically, I find it helps make the show truly a comic book come to life.Therin of Andor wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 5:53 am Funny how Joker mentions confetti but throws streamers instead.
