I was watching some racing and a thought occurred to me. I never felt that single wing was very functional, and may lead to instability in crosswinds

GTP Cadillac race cars. Still need to understand the theory of how/why it works, but apparently all the cars in this class have them.

Re: Single wing Batmobiles - now racing?
The single wing looks cool-- those giant 1940s sedans were not exactly like my very sleek MX-5 on a twisting country road-- and I'd bet they looked at aeroplanes that had the single tail wing and thought-- why not!

Love those Miatas. Closest thing to old-school 1960s roadsters available to the general market. And someone even made a single wing Mazda Miata Batmobile!
Re: Single wing Batmobiles - now racing?
I was a late convert to the Miata-- but I'd heard for years how much fun they were. Now I'm on my second one.
A Miata Batmobile would be close to the 1964 Comic Book version!

Re: Single wing Batmobiles - now racing?
Apparently there are multiple Miata Batmobiles. (Photos from the Internet.) At least three different ones, including the single wing, a double wing and a Miata version of the 1966 Batmobile (at least the front). I think I liked the single wing better when they did not add the Batman ears to the front.
I have a good friend who has owned several Miatas. Every time he sells one, it’s just a matter of time before he buys another. I’m guessing he has owned at least eight or 10. He can’t stay away.

Re: Single wing Batmobiles - now racing?
Off topic, but here's my story:
I had a TR6 in college for 4 years, moved to a German sports car, and back to a convertible. November 1988 Autoweek hits my door with a new Mazda 2 seater. I called the dealer to ask how much of a deposit I need. $50. I'm not sure his phone hit the receiver when I was walking in through the front door. The car arrived second week of June 1989. Built April 89, likely second week. Had it for 31 years, sold it on Bring a Trailer. I must have purchased nearly every item for the car I could over that time. Loads of fun at 25 or 105 (once).
You can't go wrong with a Miata.
but back to this thread - Maybe Batman was ahead of his time again.
